Salmonella Blegdam Infection: A Report of Three New Cases

Three new cases of Salmonella blegdam infections are reported from small children in Shanghai, China, and the postmortem findings of the fatal case are described in detail. The organism in two of our cases was found to be sensitive to streptomycin and one of the patients seemed to be benefited by the administration of streptomycin. The chief pathological findings as reported in the literature were those usually associated with septicemia. In our fatal case, the main pathological features were acute suppurative cerebrospinal leptomeningitis and mild inflammatory changes of the whole alimentary tract.
