Multiple Deficiency Disease with Allergy and Nutritional Enteritis1

Case Report

Alfred C. Reed, Jesse L. Carr AND Francis Rochex
San Francisco

We believe this was a man with poor background, severe allergy, nutritional imbalance, definite deficiency disease, and tuberculosis and it is the combination of these, together with his therapy, which have resulted in this peculiar repair process in tuberculous foci. It is to be remembered that a person allergic to protein may also be allergic to the tubercle bacillus and such an individual may in a tissue sense respond to infection with an unusual and peculiar cytological sequence.

Received November 17, 1942.
1 Read by title at the Thirty-eighth Annual Meeting of the American Society of Tropical Medicine, at Richmond, Va., November 10, 11 and 12, 1942.
