A plan for the improvement of the teaching of Tropical Medicine in the medical schools of the United States and Canada has been developed through the coöperation of the Association of American Medical Colleges, the John and Mary R. Markle Foundation, the Office of the Surgeon General of the U. S. Army, the National Research Council, the Army Medical School and Tulane University. The plan is being operated by a Committee on the Teaching of Tropical Medicine of the Association of American Medical Colleges consisting of Dr. Henry E. Meleney, New York University, Chairman, Dr. Malcolm H. Soule, University of Michigan and Dr. Hiram W. Kostmayer, Tulane University.

The plan consists of offering to each medical school an opportunity for two members of its teaching staff to attend a two-months course in Tropical Medicine. Clinical instructors are permitted to attend the course given to medical officers at the Army Medical School, Washington, D. C.
