First Record of a Case of Human Infection with Tapeworms of the Genus Mesocestoides

Asa C. Chandler
Contribution from the Biological Laboratory, Rice Institute, Houston, Texas

Specimens of Mesocestoides, identified as M. variabilis, are reported from man for the first time. A detailed description of the human specimens is given. The human infection was probably derived from eating the improperly cooked flesh of a wild mammal or possibly a frog.

Received June 28, 1942.
