Immunology

By NOBLE PIERCE SHERWOOD, Ph.D., M.D., F.A.C.P., Professor of Bacteriology, University of Kansas, and Pathologist to the Lawrence Memorial Hospital, Lawrence, Kansas. Second Edition. Illustrated. The C. V. Mosby Company, St. Louis, 1941

F. H. K. Reynolds

The author has written the book for medical students and for others who have had training in pathologenic bacteriology, inorganic and organic chemistry and who are interested in the underlying principles of infection, resistance and diagnostic laboratory tests.

The author stimulates the student to correlate facts concerning physiology, pharmacology, organic and physical chemistry, anatomy, pathology and biology and to apply such knowledge to a better understanding of infection, resistance, and diagnostic procedures with the hope that there may be developed sufficient background to enable him to attack the daily problems to be met in his professional pursuits.

Two new chapters have been added, one on the reticulo-endothelial system and one on serum reactions—both containing much information of value to the interested reader. The chapter on elementary chemistry of colloids has been retained and is of a clarity to enlighten the student.
