Bacillary and Rickettsial Infections. Acute and Chronic

By WILLIAM H. HOLMES. Pp. 1–675. The Macmillan Company, New York, 1940

This text-book upon the bacterial and rickettsial diseases of man is a most excellent presentation of the subject, both from the standpoint of the student and practioner of medicine, but especially from that of the student. It is a work that can be read with the greatest pleasure for the subjects are presented in a most interesting manner and the data contained are accurate and up-to-date. Every description of a disease is preceded by a historical summary and these add greatly to the value of the work, especially to the medical student, for whom the historical aspects of medicine are too often neglected during his course in medical schools, and to whom a knowledge of the history of each disease studied adds so much to his interest in the subject.

The reviewer has read this book with so much pleasure that he would earnestly recommend it to the student and practioner of medicine.
