Who Walk Alone

This book, which should have a wide circulation, is the story of an American soldier who served in the Spanish-America War and who, many years afterwards, developed leprosy. It is a true story, told by the author, who is Director of the Leonard Wood Memorial, and who was a personal friend of the soldier. The book is written as a tribute to this man who, despite the terrible disease from which he suffered, found work to do in the leprosy colony at Culion, in the Philippines, and made a success of a life apparently doomed to failure. The book is also offered, as the author says "to all those others who have fought or are fighting silently and alone one of the most tragic battles that can confront men anywhere."
