NOTE: This Department will be devoted to news items of interest to members of the Society and readers of this JOURNAL and to comments upon developments affecting the interests of tropical medicine. Contributions are solicited and should be sent to the Editor, Colonel Charles F. Craig, U. S. Army, Retired, 239 West Lullwood Avenue, San Antonio, Texas.

Dr. Henry E. Meleney, Associate Professor of Preventive Medicine and Public Health at the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine, has been appointed Hermann M. Biggs Professor of Preventive Medicine and Director of the Laboratories of Preventive Medicine at the New York University College of Medicine, succeeding Dr. Harry S. Mustard. Doctor Meleney will assume his new duties on April 1st, 1941.

Dr. Hiram J. Bush, of the United States Public Health Service, has been appointed Director of the Henry R. Carter Memorial Laboratory for Malarial Research at Savannah.
