Note

Mark F. Boyd has requested the publication of the following note on his article "Observations on Naturally and Artificially Induced Quartan Malaria," which appeared in the November 1940 issue of THE JOURNAL:

Reference is made to the sentence on page 763: "On the other hand the quartan infections discussed, whether naturally or artificially induced, have never been initiated by quotidian paroxysms. When the latter are observed they have always been preceded by a variable series of single or double quartan paroxysms." And to the sentence on page 765: "It is to be noted that while with the artificially inoculated infections, one half of the attacks were initiated by the C cycle, the quotidian ABC never figured in the onset."

I regret that the effect of these statements is a denial of the observation of initial quotidian paroxysms following artificial inoculation.
