The End of the International Society of Tropical Medicine

George H. F. Nuttall
Secretary-General and Treasurer of the International Society of Tropical Medicine.

To the Editor of The American Journal of Tropical Medicine.

From Professor G. H. F. Nuttall, Sc.D., F.R.S.,

Longfield, Madingley Road, Cambridge.

Dear Sir:—With a view to preventing misconceptions in the future, I would ask you to kindly publish the following communication in your JOURNAL:—

The International Society of Tropical Medicine was founded on September 27, 1907, on the occasion of the Fourteenth International Congress of Hygiene and Demography, Berlin, at an informal meeting attended by forty-two gentlemen representing Brasil, France, Germany, Great Britain, Holland, Italy and the United States. Provisional Officers1 were chosen: Sir Patrick Manson was elected president by acclamation and the writer was chosen secretary-general and treasurer of the Society.

A meeting of the Committee of Management took place in London on July 27, 1908, followed by a conference at which Laws governing the International Society of Tropical Medicine were framed and adopted by delegates of the British, French, German and Dutch Societies of Tropical Medicine.
