Manual of Veterinary Bacteriology

By RAYMOND A. KELSER. D.V.M. A.M., Ph.D., Lieut. Colonel, Veterinary Corps, U. S. Army. 3rd Edition. Illustrated. Pp. I-XIII. I-640. The Williams & Wilkins Co., Baltimore, Md. 1938

Chas. F. Craig

The third edition of Kelser's valuable work upon veterinary bacteriology well sustains the reputation for accuracy and practical value that preceding editions possessed. That three editions of this book have been called for within ten years is proof of its worth not only to veterinary bacteriologists but to bacteriologists as a whole.

The third edition has been carefully rewritten and revised from the first and second and contains practically all the new and important data relating to the subject. The author has wisely avoided the discussion of many controversial subjects, which rightly should not form part of a manual designed largely for students and practitioners, as the inclusion of such matter frequently causes so much confusion that one derives little benefit from the text as a whole. Throughout the volume the conservative treatment of subjects is noted and the opinions expressed are sound and helpful. The writer is to be congratulated upon this third edition and it well deserves the success that has attended the former editions of the work.
