Dr. Osgood is the guiding spirit and responsible author of this excellent work, but it is to his collaborator that he owes the keen appreciation of color nuances in the faithful reproduction of the original stained cells. It is in fact the beautiful work of the illustrator that makes the book so pleasing and valuable. This is not intended to minimize the comprehensive knowledge of hematology or the scientific acumen which the senior author has brought to bear on the subject. It is only meant to convey the first and in this instance the lasting impression made by the illustrations on the reviewer.

The latter is not a hematologist, but belongs in one of the categories of persons for whom Osgood claims the atlas was intended. He has read the text through, some parts twice or three times, and has compared every detail of the illustrations with their descriptions.
