This great lexicon of the medical practitioners and scientists of note in all countries is one of the best examples of its kind that has come to the reviewer's attention. It contains over 1700 pages and numerous photographic illustrations and the biographical sketches are much more illuminating and valuable than those usually encountered in works of like character. Besides the biographical data which one usually finds included in a lexicon there is given a fairly complete list of the most im portant literary contributions of the individuals considered, together with a discussion of the principal scientific interests and contributions of the author. The reviewer has had occasion to consult this work many times and has never been disappointed in obtaining the information sought for, which is more than can be said for many biographical lexicons, and, furthermore, the information has been authentic and accurate. For this reason the work is recommended to all who are interested in biographical data or who have need for a work of this character. It is beautifully printed and the illustrations are well chosen and executed.
