Intracranial Tumors

This book by Bailey is exceptionally well done. It is written in a clear, facile manner, great attention being paid to fundamental details. The opening chapter concerns the problem of tumors in general with special reference to intracranial tumors. The subjects are considered primarily from a pathologic physiologic point of view, the chapter on cerebral physiology being exceptionally good. The various types of tumors are then considered separately and illustrative cases cited to emphasize the clinical manifestation. The entire book is profusely illustrated, the illustrations consisting of drawings of microscopic sections, gross specimens, anatomic findings, and tracings of roentgenograms. Two excellent chapters are devoted to general diagnosis and differential diagnosis of intracranial tumors in general. The indications for operation in the various types of tumors are carefully enumerated, and, as is fitting for a book of this kind, the actual technic of the operative procedure is only sketchingly described.
