Information from: H. Brottes, Institut Pasteur, P. O. Box 888, Yaoundé, Cameroun, 9 March 1968.

Antigenic group: Ungrouped.

Original source: Isolated by H. Brottes, and A. Rickenbach at Institut Pasteur, Yaoundé, Cameroun, from a pool of 15 adult (imago) female Eretmapodites chrysogaster, netted on 21 May 1964 at Okola, 25 kilometers from Yaoundé, Lat. 4° N, Long. 11° 30' E. Habitat: Plateau 600 meters above sea level, tropical-rain, semideciduous forest. Mosquitoes collected outdoors in daylight at ground level. Storage: Specimen stored in -65°C Revco until tested.

Method of isolation in laboratory: Ground suspension in 0.75% bovalbumin solution. Inoculated 0.02 ml ic and 0.03 ml ip in 1-day-old mice on 2 June 1964.

Validity of isolation: Virus reisolated. First isolation of this virus in the laboratory.

Property of virus: Physical: No data. Chemical: No data. Resistance to chemicals: Sensitive to 1:2 ether; control titer 108, after-treatment titer <105. Sensitive to 1:1,000 sodium deoxycholate; control titer 108, after-treatment titer 103.
