Antigenic group: Congo.

Original source: Isolated by Fatima Begum at Lahore, West Pakistan, from Ixodes redikorzevi collected from Alticola trapped 20 July 1964 at Gitidas, Hazara District, West Pakistan, Lat. 35° 07' N, Long. 73° 59' E. Habitat: Alpine meadows, subarctic terrain, Kaghan Valley, elevation 12,500 feet. Storage: Specimen stored until processed in -195.8°C liquid nitrogen cylinder.

Method of isolation in laboratory: Ground suspension diluted in 0.75% bovine albumin in borate-saline solution, pH 9. Inoculated 0.01 ml ic in suckling Swiss albino mice on 27 July 1964.

Validity of isolation: Virus reisolated.

Properties of virus: Physical: Filterable through Swinny type Millipore 220 nm. Chemical: No data. Resistance to chemicals: Sensitive to ether (concentration not given); control titer 10^7.2, after-treatment titer 10^2.5. Sensitive to 1:100 sodium deoxycholate; control titer 10^4.5, after-treatment titer 10^1.5.
